The Entity "Sleep Paralysis Documentary" Ghosts and Demons
A fascinating documentary on sleep paralysis and the connection to paranormal activity in the form of ghosts and demons.
Have you ever felt like you were awake but unable to move? You may have been terrified and not able to call for help. This condition is called sleep paralysis. Sleep paralysis may leave you feeling frightened especially if you see or hear things that aren't there. Sleep paralysis may happen only once, or you may have it several times.
Over the ages, sleep paralysis has been described in many ways from unseen demons to alien abductions. People have looked for answers for this sleep-time paralysis and the feelings of terror.
But sleep researchers now know that, in most cases, sleep paralysis is simply a sign that your body isn't moving through the stages of sleep. Rarely is sleep paralysis linked to psychiatric problems.
Sleep paralysis is a feeling of being conscious but unable to move. It occurs when a person passes between stages of wakefulness and sleep. During these transitions, you may be unable to move or speak for a few seconds up to a few minutes. Some people may also feel pressure or a sense of choking.
Sleep paralysis usually occurs at one of two times. If it occurs while you are falling asleep, it's called hypnagogic or predormital sleep paralysis. If it happens as you are waking up, it's called hypnopompic or postdormital sleep paralysis. With hypnagogic sleep paralysis as you fall asleep, your body slowly relaxes. Usually you become less aware, so you do not notice the change. However, if you remain or become aware while falling asleep, you may notice that you cannot move or speak. With hypnopompic sleep paralysis during sleep, your body alternates between REM and NREM sleep. One cycle of REM and NREM sleep lasts about 90 minutes. NREM sleep occurs first and takes up to 75% of your overall sleep time. During NREM sleep, your body relaxes and restores itself. At the end of NREM, your sleep shifts to REM. Your eyes move quickly and dreams occur, but the rest of your body remains very relaxed. Your muscles are "turned off" during REM sleep. If you become aware before the REM cycle has finished, you may notice that you cannot move or speak.
So are you experiencing an evil entity holding you down and stopping you from crying out for help or are you simply experiencing sleep paralysis?
On a personal note, I have experienced this pheneomena once myself. In 2007 my wife and I had gone to bed as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary that evening until I woke, only able to move my eyes. Looking towards the foot of the bed, I first sensed, then saw the classic "Old Hag" standing there. She was side on, short, wore a dark, well worn hooded robe and looked very much like the cartoon hag from Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
She continued looking at the end of the bed, seemingly fascinated. Then she slowly turned and looked at me, wrinkled, dark and toothless.
Although I was unable to move and had adrenalin rushing through me, I was at the same time, both terrified and fascinated, knowing that a strange occurrence that I had only ever read about, was actually happening to me.
Suddenly, she seemed to grasp the end of the bed and pull the covers, foot first over my head. I can only liken the feeling to having a wave of very warm water crashing over you.
Once this sensation had cleared, I was able to move, saw the time was 2.20 am and sat up gasping for air and soaked in perspiration.
The experience was unsettling, but at the same time I am glad to have had it happen. It has never occurred since so it does puzzle me, as most who experience this seem to have recurring instances. Perhaps some time in the future...by Andrew Knott

Video: The terrors of sleep paralysis - Ami Angelowicz (http://ed.ted.com/lessons/the-terrors-of-sleep-paralysis-ami-angelowicz)
Imagine you’re fast asleep and then suddenly awake. You want to move but can’t, as if someone is sitting on your chest. And you can't even scream! This is sleep paralysis, a creepy but common phenomenon caused by an overlap in REM sleep and waking stages. Ami Angelowicz describes just how pervasive (but harmless) it is and introduces a cast of characters from sleep paralysis around the world.

Poskusim zaspat nazaj in ko tonem v spanec slišim dihanje...

-
Takrat, ko se mi je to dogajalo sem imela precej nizek nivo serotonina in je bilo to zaradi tega.
-
Zanimivo. ???
-
Mogoče je boljši izraz neravnovesje serotonina... Več pa raje v živo :)
-
Seveda, točno to sem mislil. Se opravičujem, slab izbor besed... :-\ V vsakem primeru sem imel v mislih le povezavo med serotoninom in SP, se pa vsekakor veselim pogovora v živo.

“I awake in bed … In the corner of the room there are two men. I cannot see them but I know that they are there, and what they look like. I can hear them talking. They are talking about murder. I cannot move. One of the men comes and stands directly above me … He spits, and his spit lands in the socket of my closed eye. I can feel the impact, the wetness, the trail of slime.”

Sleep disorders are a common part of the human experience. From narcolepsy to insomnia, restless legs syndrome to sleep apnea, many of us find our nights are tormented, and our days ruined as a result. But few disorders can be as routinely terrifying as sleep paralysis. I had my first experience of it at around five or six. Just as I reached the point of unconsciousness, I’d wake, aware of where I was, but unable to move.
